Earlier this month Ignite Social Media's fearless leader Jim Tobin put together a post of the Top 50 Branded Facebook Fan Pages for October 2010 that listed Facebook, YouTube and Starbucks as the top three most popular corporate destinations for users. After spending some time looking through the list of Facebook's heaviest hitters I couldn't help but notice a trend of characteristics that worked in favor of nurturing a positive, active social interaction between the brand and the fans.

I launched our blog for Ignite Social Media and set out to figure out what a social media agency was, what it did and who it was going to do it for. We realized quickly that neither of us could program, as we kept repeatedly breaking the blog, leaving us to call on friends to bail us out.
