John Andrews to Join Ignite Social Media as Chief Marketing Officer
I’m pleased to announce today that John Andrews, founder and former CEO of social shopper media company Collective Bias, will join Ignite Social Media as our first ever Chief Marketing Officer. In that role, John will help guide the company's marketing and product development and will serve as a key member of the leadership team.
Finding John at the right time for both of us involved a great deal of luck. Before he moved to Arkansas to do social media for Walmart (where he created the famous ElevenMoms program), he lived in Raleigh, where Ignite Social Media is headquartered. Fortunately, he still owns a home here and is eager to move back and join our growing team.
But more importantly, John and I knew each other before either of us went into social media. We both created companies to help large consumer brands leverage social media marketing, but we took very different approaches to the opportunity of emerging media. Now we'll be able to work together and take the best of what we've both learned over the years and apply it to the ever-changing world of branded social media.
Over the years, I've found that the best hires are often those who bring a different set of skills to the table than those you already have. In addition to being a tireless worker, John's experience with Hanes Brands, Eastman Kodak, Rubbermaid, Implus, Walmart and Collective Bias will make him a great addition to the team.
John starts full-time on January 2, 2014.

John Andrews is a disruptive marketer with over 20 years of progressive marketing and operational experience with leading brands like Hanes, Eastman Kodak Digital, Newell Rubbermaid, and Walmart, all with a hands on approach to implementing innovative marketing plans with demonstrated ROI. John excels at identifying marketplace opportunities and executing on strategic plans to deliver successful outcomes.
One of the few professionals with both strategic marketing and deep digital marketing experience, Andrews has a great ability to identify and implement new technology to address the gap between the point of influence and the point of purchase with shopper-centric, channel-focused platforms.
Currently, John is consulting for brands, technology companies and organizations to help them leverage emerging media and create engagement with stakeholders. He also serves as an active advisor for several emerging media technology companies. His educational background includes a degree in Business Administration from Lenoir-Rhyne University and a Marketing MBA from Wake Forest University. He enjoys running, travel and writing about media technology.
