ConAgra Foods Supports Hunger Action Month™ via Social Media

We are proud to work with our client, ConAgra Foods, who is committed to ending child hunger. Nearly 49 million Americans struggle with hunger, and 1 in 5 children are living in food-insecure households. Each year during the month of September, ConAgra Foods teams up with Feeding America’s Hunger Action Month™ in an effort to solve hunger together. As ConAgra Foods Corporate’s social agency, we shared a variety of calls-to-action to raise awareness of food insecurity and encourage our fans and followers to take action against hunger in their community.

Turn Orange on Hunger Action Day

The month kicked off with Hunger Action Day which was on September 3rd. On this day, everyone was encouraged to wear orange to show their
support for the initiative. To extend this socially, ConAgra Foods partnered with a tool called Twibbon, which enables social users to easily overlay an orange filter on top of their Facebook or Twitter profile picture. They could also update their Facebook cover photo or share social posts to advocate for the program.

#30Days30Ways Challenge

Hunger Action Month™ is all about encouraging everyone to take action to fight hunger in their own community. To keep ‘action’ at the top of mind for the ConAgra Foods followers, we implemented a content series on Twitter called #30Days30Ways. Each day, there was a new call-to-action with ways for people to get involved. Example CTA’s included: take a ‘spoon selfie’, finding/organizing a virtual food drive, and follow Feeding America’s social channels to stay informed.

Take a ‘Spoon Selfie’

This year, Feeding America launched Spoontember™ as a social media activation which encouraged Americans to take a ‘spoon selfie’ as a way to raise awareness of those struggling with hunger. To extend the Spoontember™ messaging, we encouraged our ConAgra Foods fans to share their ‘spoon selfies’ to show their support.

Showcasing ConAgra Foods Employee Involvement

Employees at ConAgra Foods are passionate and dedicated to donating their time and expertise to help end child hunger. Throughout Hunger Action Month™, employees participated by: wearing orange, volunteering, donating, and spreading the word about the initiative. We shared pictures of employees and the Hunger Action Month™ activities around the ConAgra Foods campus.
