Augmented Reality, $1.1 Million, Pennsylvania, Social Media Access | Topics That Are Igniting

National Geographic Campaign Creates Interactive Augmented Reality Space

As part of their campaign to promote National Geographic in Hungary, the people at Appshaker set up a screen which broadcast 3D images. Using Augmented Reality, it allows shoppers to see themselves interact with wild animals, dolphins, dinosaurs, astronauts, and experience thunderstorms. By standing in a specific spot, users could even pet and interact with anything that came up on screen. As it toured Hungary, the campaign was exposed to thousands of people not to mention the exposure it gained from shared images and video on Facebook.

The $1.1 Million Facebook Referral

According to Postling, 84% of real estate professionals are on social media sites and are now using those social channels to turn online conversation into lucrative business deals. For example, Century 21’s corporate Facebook page, going strong since 2007, just launched an interactive application to help home buyers connect with agents. The app allows users to access agents’ current listings and contact them via Facebook. Two agents of Century 21 Samia Realty in Westbrook, Maine used social media to snag a million dollar sale after noticing a note on one of their competitor’s Facebook pages. The lead who wrote the note saw the positive feedback Robbins and Hampton were getting on their Facebook page. He was impressed enough to refer his high-end clients to the realtors, who made a $1.1 million sale as a result of the referral.

Pennsylvania Game Commission Jumps Into Social Media Forum

This past Thursday the Pennsylvania Game Commission jumped on the social media train and launched a Facebook page, Twitter account, and YouTube channel. By giving themselves a social presence, the Commission is now in a much better position to connect with their audience about important conservation issues. Lori Neely is in charge of the Commission’s social media channels and hopes to use them to educate people about wildlife and the state’s resources. Interested in seeing high-definition photos and videos of wildlife, or maybe learning about trapping and bird watching? Then check out the Commission’s Facebook page or YouTube Channel, where you can meet others interested in wildlife conservation or learn about ways that you can help your environment.

Majority of Young Workers Value Social Media Over a Steady Paycheck

Cisco conducted a survey of 2,800 young professionals across fourteen countries and found some interesting data. More than half of college students globally said that if they encountered a company that banned access to social media, they would either not accept a job offer or would join and find a way to circumvent corporate policy. And more than 40% of young employees said they would accept a lower-paying job if it had more flexibility with regard to device choice, social media access, and mobility.
