Mobile Drives Facebook Revenue

Facebook’s latest quarterly report is in, and mobile is now driving 69% of its total advertising revenue. The company also broke out its revenue per user (RPU) and said that it is generating $9.00 in the quarter for every US and Canadian member. Internal and external sources cited the growth of video on the network as a key driver, although some backlash is growing about Freebooting, a new term for posting videos from others on Facebook with no ad rev-share for the owner.

Consumers Grow More Trust In Social Media Recommendations

Consumers say they trust social networks for product recommendations at a pretty high level with Pinterest and Facebook leading the way, according to a new study from Social Media Link. Overall 70% of consumers trust recommendations from their friends on Instagram and Facebook and trust in Pinterest grew over 14%. Perhaps the most interesting finding is that star ratings are proving less and less valuable to consumers while 93% said personal stories were the most motivating.
