More news on the social-commerce front, and it’s very encouraging. Business Insider recently reported that the top 500 retailers earned about $2.7 billion from social shopping in 2013, up 60% from the previous year. According to Pew Research Internet Project, the number of Americans who follow candidates or other political figures on social media makes up 16% of registered users – up 6% from 2010. What is far more interesting is the behaviors of this 16%, which include volunteering, donating money and encouraging others to get out and vote to support their preferred candidates and causes. Those are some rather fantastic advocacy stats.

What is Snapchat “Discover”?

Rumors continue to circulate about a new feature on Snapchat named “Discover”. According to Digiday, it is a section within the app that serves users articles, music, and video produced by leading media companies. The list of supposed companies includes CNN, EPSN, Buzzfeed, Vevo, amongst many others. And to follow suit with the Snapchat brand, the media will have a relatively short shelf life but may not necessarily be short in content length.
