The UFC recently awarded middleweight champion Anderson Silva received $10,000 in bonuses as part of the league’s new Twitter incentive campaign. Launched in May, prizes are given out at the end of each quarter for most followers, biggest increase in followers, and most creative use of Twitter. The bonus plan will end up costing the UFC $240,000 a year.

Starbucks To Roll Out Augmented Reality App For Festive Red Cups

Because of their popularity, Starbucks will be introducing an app which will allow those with a smartphone to access interactive content from their famous red cups. Through augmented reality, the Starbucks Cup Magic app enables to interact and share all five Starbucks characters that appear on each cup. You can also uncover extra content through the other objects on display in Starbucks cafés as well as special offers. The app will be available to download for iPhone and Android devices on November 15th.

HootSuite Adds YouTube, Flickr, Tumblr, and Get Satisfaction to Social Media Management System

The leading social media dashboard, HootSuite, just announced that their system is going to start supporting additional social networks. The social media management system now includes YouTube, Flickr, Tumblr, and Get Satisfaction. Social media marketers can use these additional features to manage online interaction across multiple social networks. While HootSuite Pro and Enterprise customers will be able to access these tools before their scheduled release, the rest of HootSuite’s customers will have to wait a little while longer.

Glam Media Buys Ning Social Media Platform

Glam Media, a lifestyles publications and media company, is acquiring Ning Social Media, a platform for building customizable social websites. Samir Arora, CEO of Glam, says Ning will help his company increase the functionality of its social platforms. Described by Mr. Arora as “Facebook in a box,” Ning will supplement Glam Media’s efforts to create socially interactive content for its subscribers.
