Despite a Mandated Disclaimer, Southwest Reaches out on Facebook

TIL (today I learned) the U.S. Department of Transportation requires all airlines to place a disclaimer on Facebook explaining they won’t address customer service problems on the social network. And if you go on Southwest Airlines’ Facebook page, you will find just that: “We will not address specific Customer Service issues here.” Despite this mandate, the company has hired three new people to handle customer service questions on various social media sites.

Charities Are Doing an Awful Job at Social Media

One only has to look at the recent revolutions around the world to see the power ‘social good’ can have on society; however, an article written on TECHi notes that charities are underperforming when it comes to social media. The article points out the poor exposure of some of the largest charities in the United States and makes suggestions as to how they can improve.

NBA Says ‘No Social Media’ During Lockout

This morning at 12:01AM, the NBA lockout officially began and as a result, teams and players cannot communicate with each other via social media. Not only do they face a $1million fine (that’s right, ONE MILLION) for violating the rule, but also potentially risk losing draft picks.
