A “social network” is a software system used to build online communities of individuals who share similar interests and activities. Popular social network software platforms include Myspace.com and Facebook.com. In addition to these sites, there are many niche social networking sites that target very focused groups of people. Linkedin.com is for professional networking, Doostang.com is for college recruiting, and TeamSugar.com is a community for women.
Why utilize social networks?
Social networks give individuals a place to meet up and connect online. Users can communicate with their friends, network with professionals, or share tips and advice.
While Facebook serves its purpose as the mass site, the one that everyone joins to stay connected with friends, it’s really not good for other things. Niche social networks, on the other hand, are smaller, but can be more powerful, more active and more fun. Instead of just creating a presence on one of the many social networks out there, why not create your own social network?
Ignite can design and build a customized social network for your customers, your employees, your distributors, or anyone else that would benefit from having a centralized place to connect and communicate.
