4 Mother’s Day Campaigns to Inspire Community Managers

Mom. She birthed you. She changed your smelly diapers. She cared for you even when you were in that awkward teen stage, and she taught you life lessons. Without her, you wouldn’t be here. So let’s all just take a moment this Mother’s Day to say, THANKS MOM!

Being a social media agency, we love how people show their gratitude for moms on social media. So with that, check out our roundup of some of the most creative Mother’s Day social media campaigns for some inspiration.

Macy’s

Last year, Macy’s used social media to not only show appreciation for moms, but also as a platform to give back. This national retailer, known very well for its holiday sentiment (Believe in the magic of giving), tugged on heartstrings once again with its Mother’s Day social media campaign.  Macy’s asked its customers to post their favorite moments with mom on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and in return would donate $3 per memory or photo uploaded.

Kraft Dressing

Kraft Dressing did a little more than spruce up a salad with its 2013 campaign. The dressing company wished mothers a happy day with a little sex appeal on the side. But it got people talking. There were mixed emotions about a half-naked man wishing mom a Happy Mother’s Day, but what’s so wrong with mom getting a little eye candy on her special day?

Samsung

Last year, our client Samsung put a lighthearted twist on Mother’s Day by displaying laughable #TextsFromMom in a video. We’ve all experienced those moments where mom isn’t exactly sure how to use her smartphone, and Samsung found a warm way to highlight those moments. The campaign extended to social media by giving users a chance to win a Galaxy S6 by using the hashtag #TextsFromMom.

Got Milk

Got Milk took a musical approach to this Mother’s Day campaign by asking sons and daughters to tweet about what makes their mom so great using the hashtag #SongsForMoms. In return, selected individuals got an original song by Ray Parker Jr. – the guy who sings the “Ghostbusters” theme song. Check out some of the original tracks here.

There are a million ways to show appreciation for mom, but these are some of our favorites. What do you think have been the best Mother’s Day posts on social media?
